Here is the latest in the (hopefully) weekly series, sharing which prefectures/cities to pray for in China each day. Included in each daily introduction are links to more resources about the city and province to which it belongs. Follow me on Twitter/X (@chinaadventures) to see more pics of each day’s target city.
*Scroll to the bottom for an explanation of how I decide which cities to pray for daily.
Finally, each week I record the China Compass podcast in which (among other things) I talk through the locations targeted for prayer that week, sharing any specific thoughts or stories that come to mind. Here’s this week’s episode.
Here are the unique Chinese places to pray for from May 3-9, 2025:
Sat, May 3 - Pray for Lintao County in Dingxi Prefecture, just an hour or so south of Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province. We have planted many thousands of Gospel seeds in Lintao: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lintao_County
Listen to the story of my team being chased around a village on New Year’s Eve in rural Lintao: https://pubtv.flfnetwork.com/tabs/the-pub/podcasts/30293/episodes/50
Gansu is paired for prayer with its sister state, Oklahoma: www.Pray4Gansu.com (For even more Gansu info... https://prayforchina.us/index.php/gansu/)
*Just your friendly reminder that today in China, thousands of pastors will be (have been!) detained/harassed/persecuted for faithfully leading their flocks. (Heb. 13:3)*
Sun, May 4 - Pray for Pinggu District in eastern Beijing, one of the Chinese capital’s more rural regions: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinggu,_Beijing
Here's an interview I did last year about the Tiananmen Square massacre: https://pubtv.flfnetwork.com/tabs/the-pub/videos/30786
Beijing is paired with Washington D.C. (and neighboring Maryland counties) for prayer: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/maryland/
Mon, May 5 - Pray for Sinan (Suh-non) County, a beautiful mountain district of Tongren Prefecture in south-central China’s Guizhou Province: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinan_County,_Guizhou
Guizhou is paired with the eastern 2/3 of Missouri for prayer. Check out my special Guizhou podcast (and more)... https://prayforchina.us/index.php/guizhou/
Tue, May 6 - Pray for rural Renqiu (Rin-chee’oh) City in Cangzhou Prefecture (Hebei Province), not too far south of Beijing: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renqiu
Hebei (“Huh-bay”) Province is paired with both Wisconsin and Michigan for prayer. Check out my Hebei podcast (and more): https://prayforchina.us/index.php/hebei/
Wed, May 7 - Pray for Nehe (Nuh-huh) City in NE China’s Heilongjiang Province. This is one of the few Chinese cities I am discovering for the first time as I prepare these prayer profiles: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nehe
Heilongjiang (Black Dragon River), the northernmost prefecture in China, is paired with both Minnesota and the UP of Michigan for prayer. Check out my Black Dragon River podcast (and more): https://prayforchina.us/index.php/heilongjiang/
Thu, May 8 - Pray for Sanmenxia City in northwest Henan Province in central China. The city's name in Chinese means "Three Gateways Gorge" and refers to two islands that split the Yellow River into three parts: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanmenxia
“Henan” means “south of the river” and is paired w Kentucky and West Virginia for prayer. Here's my Henan podcast (and more): https://prayforchina.us/index.php/henan/
Fri, May 9 - Pray for Xiaonan (Shee’ow-non) District, the urban core of Xiaogan City in central China’s Hubei Province: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiaonan,_Xiaogan
I once spent a dollar for a hotel room in Xiaogan during my 2003 China adventures. While attempting to shower (just a slow drip) I could hear children chanting mantras (propaganda) at a nearby school, which burdened me all the more for China’s people: https://open.substack.com/pub/chinacall/p/how-to-lose-your-passport
Hubei is paired with Illinois for prayer. For more Hubei info (including a special podcast): https://prayforchina.us/index.php/hubei/
