Here is the next in the (not quite) weekly series, sharing which prefectures/cities to pray for in China each day. Included in each daily introduction are links to more resources about the city and province to which it belongs. Follow me on Twitter/X (@chinaadventures) to see more pics of each day’s target city.
*Scroll to the bottom for my explanation of how I decide which cities to pray for daily.
Finally, each week I record the China Compass podcast in which (usually near the end) I talk through the locations targeted for prayer that week, sharing any specific thoughts or stories that come to mind. Here is last week’s podcast episode.
Here are the unique Chinese places to pray for from May 25-31, 2025:
*I was deported seven years ago today! “Remember” that today in China, thousands of pastors continue to be detained/harassed/persecuted for faithfully leading their flocks. (Hebrews 13:3)*
Sun, May 25 - Pray for Ninghe District in the suburbs of northeast Tianjin Municipality: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninghe,_Tianjin
Tianjin is paired with Maryland for prayer. For more info, including a moving podcast about the many martyrs of Tianjin: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/tianjin/
Mon, May 26 - Pray for Bobai County in Yulin, the second most populated prefecture China's Guangxi Province: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobai_County
Guangxi is paired with Mississippi and Alabama for prayer. For more info, including the special Guangxi podcast about the Mountain Chief who “Don't Want Your Jesus”… https://prayforchina.us/index.php/guangxi/
Tue, May 27 - Pray for Zhalantun City in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, in far NE China, a place I’d never heard of til today: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zalantun
Inner Mongolia is appropriately paired with the Dakotas for prayer and features in this podcast: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/Inner-Mongolia/
Wed, May 28 - Pray for Xiji County in Guyuan Prefecture, a Muslim-majority county in the mountains of south Ningxia Region in north China: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiji_County
I’ve traveled a ton in Ningxia, including Xiji, and will share a few stories in my next (Wed, May 28) podcast: https://pubtv.flfnetwork.com/tabs/audio/podcasts/30293
Ningxia is paired with the western ⅓ of Missouri for prayer. For old podcasts and more info: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/ningxia/
Thu, May 29 - Pray for Xinshi District in Urumqi (Woo-loo-moo-chee), the capital of Xinjiang Province: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xinshi,_%C3%9Cr%C3%BCmqi
I once transited the Urumqi Airport (pictured), which is located in Xinshi District.
Xinjiang is so large it is paired for prayer with the seven western US states of California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, (southern) Utah, and Alaska: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/xinjiang/
Fri, May 30 - Pray for Markam County in Chamdo Prefecture in the far NE corner of Tibet. Casual visits to this region by non-Chinese are forbidden and the vast majority have never heard the Gospel: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markam_County
Tibet is appropriately paired with the mountainous states of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, (northern) Utah, and (northern) Colorado for prayer.
For more details and to listen to my special Tibet podcast about (illegally) visiting Chamdo, visit: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/tibet/
Sat, May 31 - Pray for Wenchang City on Hainan Island (province) in the South China Sea: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wenchang
Hainan is paired with Hawaii for prayer. Learn more and listen to my (sad) podcast about the polygamous “missionary”: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/hainan/
*Beginning in early 2024, I began working through each of China’s 31 provinces/regions once per month (on shorter months I skip a smaller, less-populated province), highlighting one new place per day, starting with the most populated in each province. More than a year later, I continue working my way down through each province’s prefecture/city list by population (greatest to least). The goal is to eventually pray for every prefecture, city, and county in China, the vast majority which the average western Christian has never even heard of.
