Here is the next in the (not quite) weekly series, sharing which prefectures/cities to pray for in China each day. Included in each daily introduction are links to more resources about the city and province to which it belongs. Follow me on Twitter/X (@chinaadventures) to see more pics of each day’s target city.
*Scroll to the bottom for my explanation of how I decide which cities to pray for daily.
Finally, each week I record the China Compass podcast in which (usually near the end) I talk through the locations targeted for prayer that week, sharing any thoughts or stories that come to mind. Here are the unique places to pray for from June 15-21:
*“Remember” that today in China, thousands of pastors will continue to be detained/harassed/persecuted for faithfully leading their flocks. (Hebrews 13:3)*
Sun, June 15 - Pray for Huangzhong in the hills south of Qinghai’s high-altitude capital, Xining in NW China. We’ve been to Huangzhong numerous times over the years, including one experience back in 2006(?) when we distributed tracts all around the monastery with our Muslim taxi driver waiting in the getaway car…
Qinghai (“Cheeng-high”) is paired with southern CO, west TX, and NM for prayer. To listen to the Qinghai podcast and more: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/qinghai/
Mon, June 16 - Pray for Hanbin District, in southern Shaanxi's Ankang City, one of few large Chinese regions I’ve never visited. Shaanxi is paired with Kansas for prayer.

Tue, June 17 - Pray for Dongying Prefecture on the coast of Shandong Province, home to China’s second largest oilfield. Shandong is paired with Virginia for prayer.

Also, don’t miss this longer list of stories about the Shandong martyrs of 1900.
Wed, June 18 - Pray for Yuci (“You-tsuh”) District in Jinzhong Prefecture a somewhat obscure region in northern China’s Shanxi Province. Shanxi has seen heavy persecution over the years, esp. during the Boxer Rebellion of 1900!
Shanxi (“west of the mountains”) is paired with Nebraska for prayer. For more info, including my special Gladys Aylward pod: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/shanxi/
Thu, June 19 - Pray for Guangyuan Prefecture in northern Sichuan Province, not too far (southeast) from Hanbin (Shaanxi), which we prayed for on Monday.
Home of the panda and many Tibetans, Sichuan is matched with Texas for prayer. Listen to my Sichuan podcast (and more): https://prayforchina.us/index.php/sichuan/
Fri, June 20 - Pray for Guandu District in the center of Yunnan’s capital, Kunming, aka, the land of eternal spring: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guandu,_Kunming
Home to myriad mountains and minorities, Yunnan is paired with Arkansas and Louisiana for prayer. Learn more and listen to my Yunnan podcast here.
Sat, Jun 21 - Pray for Wenling City in the Taizhou region of southeast China’s heavily populated Zhejiang Province: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wenling
Zhejiang (“Juh-jiang”) Province is aptly paired with North Carolina for prayer: https://prayforchina.us/index.php/zhejiang/

*Beginning in early 2024, I began working through each of China’s 31 provinces/regions once per month (on shorter months I skip a smaller, less-populated province), highlighting one new place per day, starting with the most populated in each province. More than a year later, I continue working my way down through each province’s prefecture/city list by population (greatest to least). The goal is to eventually pray for every prefecture, city, and county in China, the vast majority which the average western Christian has never even heard of.
